Eligibility Requirements:

- Reside in South Africa
- Be a national of a southern African country (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Eswatini, Angola, or Mozambique)
- Hold or be completing a good Honours degree by the end of (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent)
- Applying for a one-year full-time Masters course or currently studying a two-year course
- Pursuing studies in Journalism, Communication, or Media Studies
- Studying or applying to study at any university in South Africa
- Able to participate in a 12-month paid internship as a Reporter at the Mail & Guardian in 2024
- Preference given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to education or human rights matters in southern Africa
