Navigating the CAO Application Process in South Africa
Before proceeding with your application, please take note:
- If you’ve already sent an application to the Central Application Office (CAO), refrain from submitting another; the CAO will process only one application per student for each entry term.
- Keep your educational history — including high school and any post-secondary institutions — readily available for reference.

Acquiring a CAO Application Form:
- Download it directly from the CAO website at www.cao.ac.za.

- You can apply online by visiting www.cao.ac.za.

Required Documents for Application:
- Grade 12 students should enclose certified copies of Grade 11 results and any available Grade 12 results, along with identification documents.
- Students seeking to transfer from other universities need to provide certified copies of their National Senior Certificates or Senior Certificates, plus full academic transcripts from their former or current institutions.
Key Application Deadlines:
For South African Citizens:
- Semester 1 (January Intake):
- Medicine: Applications close on 30 June, with no allowance for late submissions.
- For all other programs: The deadline is 30 September.
Make sure to submit your application well within these dates to ensure your place in the academic session you’re aiming for.
