About Cape Wools SA:
Cape Wools SA is the official industry representative organization for the South African wool industry. Established in 1997, this organization comprises various groups involved in the wool business, including wool producers, wool buyers, wool traders, and wool testers, among others. The primary mission of Cape Wools SA is to support and improve the South African wool industry by conducting research and development, promoting the market, and providing market intelligence.
Cape Wools SA Bursary Fund 2025-2026:
Cape Wools offers financial assistance to a select number of students each year through its bursary program. The bursary fund is sponsored by the Wool Industry Bursary Trust. For the academic year 2025-2026, these bursaries will be awarded to students pursuing education in Textile or Fashion Design, or other qualifications related to the wool industry.
The bursaries will cover various educational expenses, including registration fees, tuition fees, accommodation, prescribed books, and miscellaneous study-related materials. The exact amount of funding will be determined by Cape Wools SA. Students studying at Grootfontein Agricultural College will receive approximately R 20,000 for practical on-farm training, which will be paid directly to the farmer to cover related costs.
Selection for the bursary primarily depends on academic merit, so students with excellent academic performance have a higher chance of receiving funding. Initially, the bursary is awarded for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on academic performance.
As part of the bursary requirements, students must engage in vacation work at a wool farm for a minimum of four weeks per year. After completing their respective programs, they must work at a farm or organization for a duration equal to the period they received funding.
