Central University of Technology CUT PGCE
The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at the Central University of Technology (CUT) is a program designed to prepare students for a career in teaching. It is available on both the Bloemfontein and Welkom Campuses and can be completed in one year full-time or two years part-time.

Admission Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or three-year diploma evaluated at NQF level 6 (old structure) or NQF level 7 (new structure) with at least two school-related subjects.
- One school-related subject must be at second-year or third-year level for FET Methodology, and one must be at first-year level for SP Methodology.
- Specific diplomas in fields like Engineering, Tourism, Hospitality, Agriculture, Fine Art, Dance, Music, Dramatic Art, Business Studies, Accounting, Design, Engineering Graphics and Design, Medical Technology, Chemical Technology, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Sport and Exercise Technology, Applied Sciences, Mathematics Technology are required.
Career Opportunities:
Graduates can become teachers or lecturers at secondary schools or FET colleges.
Purpose:
The PGCE trains student teachers for the Senior Phase (Grade 7-9) and the FET Phase (Grade 10-12).
The program is designed to develop professional competence, grounded in educational theory.
Instructional Offerings:
The program includes modules in Education, Professional Studies, Computer Literacy, Introduction to Research, School-based Learning, Conversational Language, and various methodology subjects for both the Senior Phase and FET Phase.
Selection Process:
Admission is based on academic performance in major subjects of the degree/diploma and the capacity regarding methodologies.
Not all methodologies are offered at both campuses, and some are only available in Bloemfontein.
