About the Company – Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR):

The Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR) is a non-profit organization based in Cape Town, South Africa. It was established in 2006 as an initiative by the South African Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and is financially supported by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA).

CPGR’s mission is to find technical and scientific solutions for genomic and proteomic projects while adhering to strict quality management principles. They employ a team of exceptional scientists who utilize modern integrated technologies to deliver results in development, regulatory, and commercial operations.

CPGR Bursary Program:

The CPGR is offering bursary funding for postgraduate studies in the fields of Bioinformatics, Biological Science, Biotechnology, Genetics/Human Genetics, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Bioscience, Microbiology/Biochemistry, and Molecular/Cell Biology for the 2022 academic year.

The bursary provides full or partial coverage for registration fees, tuition fees, and prescribed materials. Recipients of the bursary will be covered for the entire duration of their registered degree program, provided they pass all registered subjects and comply with the rules of the CPGR bursary contract.

After graduation, bursary recipients will be required to fulfill a service obligation by working for CPGR. The service obligation is for one year of service for each year of funding received.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria to be considered for the CPGR bursary:

  • South African citizenship
  • Age between 18 and 29 years old
  • Completion of an undergraduate qualification
  • Intention to study or currently studying towards a postgraduate degree in the specified fields
  • Enrollment or intention to enroll at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply

Application Process:

The CPGR Bursary application process is currently paused, and further information will be provided if applications reopen. Applicants are required to submit clear copies of their ID document, highest qualification statement of results, proof of address, and proof of disability (if applicable).

Closing Date:

The closing date for the CPGR bursary was 28 February
