How do you register to become a postgraduate student?

Meet the pre-requisites

  • Masters programmes:  you must have an average mark of 60% at Honours or B-Tech level, and at least 60% mark in Research Methodology.
  • Doctorate programmes: an appropriate Masters or M-Tech Degree with an average of 65%

The process of becoming a postgrad

  1. For both Masters and Doctorate, the Assistant Dean will verify if you qualify for the programme you intend to study.
  2. You will be allocated a preliminary supervisor by the relevant Head of Department.
    •  The perlim supervisor will guide you to develop a Research Proposal.
  3. Once the proposal has reached the required standard in terms of quality, you will present it to the Department and following the outcomes of the presentation continue forward to the Faculty Research Committee (FRC) or revise proposal.
  4. Approval of the Proposal by the Faculty Research and Innovation Committee will allow you to officially register.
  5. Registration for 2019academic year ends 30 August 2018.
  6. Registration after 30 August 2019will be for the 2019 academic year.

1. Prof. Rambe, from the Department of Business Support Studies has been selected to join the first phase of the DAAD DIES ProGRANT Proposal Writing for Research Grants scheduled to take place in Windhoek, Namibia, beginning in April 2018. Congratulations Professor!

2. Mr Logan Munsamy, from the Department of Government Management was successful in his application for the Newton Travel Grant. Mr Munsamy will spend six weeks at the Global Disaster Resilience Centre at the School of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Huddersfield (UK) in September/October .
