The Democratic Nursing Organization of South Africa (DENOSA) stands as a beacon for nursing professionals, with a membership of over 84,000 individuals, making it the largest nurses’ union in the country. Established in 1996, DENOSA is a voluntary organization dedicated to the growth and welfare of nursing and midwifery professionals in South Africa. Proudly affiliated with the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and a member of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), DENOSA offers nursing training for professional development and vital trade union support.
DENOSA Bursary 2025-2026: Your Pathway to Nursing Excellence
DENOSA invites aspiring nursing professionals to apply for the DENOSA Bursary program for the academic year 2025-2026. This esteemed opportunity is exclusively available to fully paid-up DENOSA members. The bursary covers a variety of courses, including:
- Short courses and bridging courses
- Nursing in community health, geriatrics, and psychiatry
- Community nursing science
- Postgraduate studies (university or technical college)
- Master’s degree in clinical research
While the bursary award assists with a portion of tertiary education costs, students are encouraged to secure additional funding to bridge any financial gaps. Successful bursary recipients must reapply annually and will receive funds based on their academic performance.
Feedback on the status of your application will be provided by April 2025-2026. Recipients are required to submit a progress report to the secretary before 14 February each year throughout their study course.
Eligibility Criteria: Opening Doors to Excellence
Applicants must meet these essential criteria to be considered for the DENOSA Bursary:
- Active DENOSA membership (fully paid-up) for at least 2 years prior to applying
- Continued DENOSA membership (fully paid-up) throughout the academic year 2025-2026 and during the bursary-awarded studies
- Registered as a midwife and/or nurse
- Completed approved post-basic work
- Acceptance and enrollment in an institution for the academic year 2025-2026
- Specific requirements based on course type (as mentioned in the official document)
