ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDER – CAPE TERCENTENARY FOUNDATION

The Cape Tercentenary Foundation was established in 1950 by Edward and Harry Molteno with the aim of supporting the cultural development of Cape Town. The founders were pioneers of the Cape fruit industry and had a strong appreciation for music, theatre, and the natural environment.

The foundation’s mission is to preserve, promote, and encourage literature, visual and performing arts, and the natural and cultural environment in the Western, Eastern, and Northern Cape Provinces of South Africa. The Cape Tercentenary Foundation provides scholarship awards to students who demonstrate potential in contributing to the fulfillment of the foundation’s mission.

ABOUT THE DUDLEY D’EWES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Dudley D’Ewes Scholarship, offered by the Cape Tercentenary Foundation, is available for post-honours studies in the fields of Literature, Visual and Performing Arts, as well as the Natural and Cultural Environment of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Northern Cape provinces.

The scholarship aligns with the foundation’s mission to preserve, promote, and encourage these specific fields of study.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DUDLEY D’EWES SCHOLARSHIP

To be considered for the Dudley D’Ewes Scholarship, applicants must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:

  • Completion of a University Honours degree
  • Intention to study or currently studying towards a post-honours qualification in 2023
  • Pursuit of studies in Literature, Visual and Performing Arts, or the Natural and Cultural Environment
  • Enrollment at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
