Durban University of Technology DUT Accommodation Residence
Durban University of Technology: Student Residence Accommodation Guide
Overview
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) acknowledges the pivotal role that campus residence plays in student life. With limited spaces available, we encourage timely applications to secure your spot in our supportive living communities.
New Students
As a newcomer to DUT, it’s vital to tick the option for residence accommodation on your Central Applications Office (CAO) form. Upon acceptance into a DUT program, the Student Admissions Department will communicate your status to the Student Housing division. Here’s the criteria and process for residence allocation:
- Eligibility is extended to those enrolled in full-time courses and residing beyond a 30 km radius from the DUT campus.
- Pre-allocation to a residence is subject to the Finance Department confirming your registration fee or accommodation funding.
- To finalize your residence arrangement, accept the pre-allocation online via iEnabler in the “Residence Registration” section and print out the confirmation for your records.
- Residences in proximity to the campus are designated for first-year students to facilitate a smooth transition to university life.
Returning Students
If you’re a DUT veteran seeking to live on campus again, the application window opens annually from September to October. Keep these points in mind:
- Spaces are assigned on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.
- Second-year students are classified as returning residents.
- A full-time course registration is mandatory, with exclusions applied to part-time, in-service training, and non-diploma subjects.
- A confirmed academic registration and cleared funding pave the way to accepting your pre-allocated residence space online via iEnabler.
Postgraduate Students
Advanced learners are invited to apply for residence during the same annual period as undergraduates, with a few additional notes:
- Those external to DUT can express interest through an email application to Housindbn@dut.ac.za.
- Academic registration and secure funding are prerequisites for confirming residence accommodation.
- Allocation in the Student Village is contingent upon availability.
- Bear in mind that a reserved space by Housing implies financial responsibility for that accommodation.
