Garden Cities Bursary 2025-2026

About Garden Cities

Garden Cities is a property development and management company in South Africa that specializes in building residential homes in various suburbs. Established in 1919 by entrepreneur and politician Richard Stuttaford, the company draws inspiration from the concepts proposed by British urban planner Sir Ebenezer Howard. Howard’s ideas included the development of planned towns to address housing challenges for people living in slums during and after World War I.

Over its 100 years of existence, Garden Cities has undertaken numerous high-quality housing projects in South Africa, including:

  • Pinelands Garden City
  • Meadowridge Garden City
  • Square Hill Garden City
  • Elfindale Garden City
  • Northpine Garden City

Profits generated by Garden Cities are reinvested in acquiring lands for future housing projects. Additionally, some profits are directed towards building school halls and supporting corporate social responsibility initiatives.
