Gert Sibande College Balfour Campus
A Brief History
President Jacob Zuma pronounced in 2012 that Balfour will be one of a total of 12 new FET college campuses to be built across South Africa to accommodate the increasing enrolments at colleges. Gert Sibande College embraced this pronouncement as it enabled the college to spread its footprint more widely in the Gert Sibande Region.
In anticipation of the new structure, 210 students were enrolled at Balfour Campus at a temporary site in 2014 . The campus manager, Phindile Shongwe and her staff, introduced two NCV programmes, namely, Office administration and Civil Construction Engineering in the rented premises from Balfour High School.
It is anticipated that when the new campus is constructed, it will accommodate almost 600 students. Balfour campus is committed to serve the Balfour community with excellence.
