The cultural diversity of our country is recognized and honored on September 24 as Heritage Day. On this day, South Africans remember the rich cultural legacy of the various different cultures that make up their country’s population. Numerous activities are held across the nation to mark this day.
The theme of Heritage Day is harmony. We have a long tradition as a country of dividing ourselves based on our differences. The goal of Legacy Day is to promote peace and a sense of belonging for every South African, as well as to remind us to appreciate and conserve our cultural heritage.
