With its headquarters in Midrand, Gauteng, Dis-Chem is one of South Africa’s top retail pharmacy groups. The Group, which employs a “Pharmacy First” strategy, was founded in 1978 by pharmacists Ivan and Lynette Saltzman, a married couple. With the support of exceptional customer service, a wide selection of products, and our Everyday Low Price (“EDLP”) strategy, the Group has developed into a well-known, coveted brand among South African customers.
Number of stores
With 165 locations and additional 4 in Namibia and 1 in Botswana, Dis-Chem is the second-largest retail pharmacy network in South Africa. In 2019, the chain’s total revenue was 21.4 billion South African Rand. Dis-Chem offers items under its own private label, conducts online sales, runs a loyalty program, and the Group has a wholesale section. The firm stated in 2016 that it would increase the number of locations by 2021. One-third of its stores were under three years old at the time.
Retail
Retail pharmacy stores, primary healthcare clinics, Baby City, Dis-Chem Direct, e-commerce, and auxiliary services are all included in Dis-retail Chem’s section. They provide clients with a wide range of goods and services at our regularly reduced costs. Dis-Chem announced that it will purchase the CT Distribution Centre from Commercial Properties Holdings in Belville, Western Cape, for R75.5 million in cash. At the place, the group was paying R1.9 million each month.
