How Much does Amazon Prime Cost in South Africa

It’s been a rough few weeks for Amazon Prime Video in South Africa.

The company has informed its subscribers that they will now be billed in Rand instead of euro, at R79 per month. This follows sustained pressure from the local film industry, Sasfa (SA Screen Federation Association), which has been lobbying the Department of Trade and Industry to prevent international streaming services from operating outside the new regulations. It’s unclear whether a desire to comply with local content laws motivated the move or whether it was simply a unique pricing strategy to compete with Netflix.”

Amazon Prime Video is still fairly new in South Africa.

If you’re used to the massive library of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video will seem a little small. They only launched it in South Africa in September 2018, so there are still a few shows available. But it has some popular titles like The Walking Dead and Vikings. It also has some originals like Britannia and Fleabag that are exclusive to Amazon Prime Video worldwide.

You can watch Amazon Prime Video on your laptop or computer, your phone or tablet (through the app), or on your TV (through Chromecast).

When you sign up for the free trial, you can use your account to watch it on all your devices through a web browser and the Prime Video app.

If you’re a new member of the Prime family, you can use your account to watch it on all your devices through a web browser and the Prime Video app. If you’re an existing member, there’s no need to do anything other than download the app for free from either Google Play or iTunes.

If you’ve already used your free trial, that’s okay! You will automatically get access to this content when it comes out on Amazon Prime Video. No matter how many devices you have or how many people have access to those devices (including yourself), this content will be available for everyone who has an account with Amazon Prime in South Africa.
