Security services are a growth industry in South Africa, with the private security industry expected to grow by 10% per year. As a member of one of the country’s largest law enforcement agencies, you’ll have access to a wide range of career opportunities in fields like forensic investigation, crime scene investigation, evidence collection and preservation, information management and analysis, and traffic management.

Metro police officers enforce local by-laws and keep the peace in their assigned areas. They may also be called upon to provide crowd control or other duties as required. Metro police officers play an important role in keeping our city safe. They work long hours and often put their lives on the line to protect us. We owe them a great deal of gratitude for their service.
This position requires at least a matric (Grade 12) qualification, and preference will be given to those with higher qualifications and/or relevant experience.
The current salary structure dates back to 1999 following recommendations of the 1998 Police Commission. Currently, many metro officers earn 18,600 ZAR to 20,000 ZAR per month. Some earn higher than that with the highest being around 50,000 ZAR depending on the rank.
