How Much Is Mercedes Benz C200 In South Africa

The Mercedes Benz C200 In South Africa

The first examples of the brand-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class left the local East London production line back in June, headed for both local showrooms and overseas markets. To that end, Mercedes-Benz has already posted prices for the new car on its website, even though the revised C-Class is scheduled to go on sale in South Africa in the upcoming months.

The first two versions are now available on the local configurator; the C200 petrol variant starts at R856 080, and the C220d starts at R911 740. Of course, choices aren’t included in this; we’ll talk about them later. This constitutes a large price premium over its direct competitors, the BMW 320i and 320d, which start at R731 762 and R774 816 respectively, while the base A4 40 TFSI from Audi costs R705 500.

Engine

The new C-Class models are at least more powerful than the aforementioned rivals, and they also come with a 48V mild-hybrid system with integrated starter-generator and an overboost of 15kW and 200Nm. A 1.5-liter turbopetrol engine with 150 kW and 300 Nm powers the C200 petrol variant, while a 2-liter turbodiesel with 147 kW and 400 Nm powers the C220d. An automatic transmission with nine speeds is mated to both engines. For instance, the Audi 40 TFSI pushes 140 kW, while the BMWs generate 135 kW (320i) and 140 kW (320d).

Specs

The configurator lists features like dual-zone climate control, a high-resolution portrait-oriented infotainment system, Artico man-made leather seat upholstery, a multi-function sports steering wheel, electric front seat adjustment, and 18-inch wheels as standard, though Mercedes-Benz has not provided a comprehensive list of standard equipment.

Packages Buyers Can Opt For In South Africa

Customers can choose from a variety of bundles. For instance, the Advanced-Plus pack has a high-resolution digital instrument cluster, ambient illumination, and wireless charging. The Advanced Plus equipment, along with the MBUX Navigation Premium system, Parking Package with 360-degree camera, and Memory Package for storing settings for different users, are all included in the Premium package (R62 000).

The Premium-Plus Package (R118 000) adds the Head-Up Display, MBUX augmented reality navigation, four-zone Thermotronic climate management, and the Digital Light Package in addition to the two aforementioned packs. The Avantgarde package is the default option for external style, although purchasers can choose an AMG Line exterior extra R54 000. The interior packages Avantgarde and AMG Line are also options for buyers, however the latter does not come with a price penalty in that scenario.
