The following criteria must be met in order to become a police officer:

  1. You must be a resident of South Africa.
  2. You have to be at least 18 years old but not older than 30.
  3. A current driver’s license is required.
  4. You must be free of any criminal history.
  5. You must speak at least one other official language and English well.

The Learning Program will last 24 months, with 12 of those months spent at the Academy and 12 in the business. The program will be divided into two periods at the academy and one at the workplace. The primary goal of the foundational phase will be to acquire the requisite information and abilities.
