How long does it take to train as a sniper?

Snipers must complete the Army Sniper School, which is a seven-week training course. Students study a variety of weapons systems as well as a wide range of fieldcraft skills. Approximately half of all students admitted to the programme graduate.

They do not work on their own.

Snipers normally work in pairs with a spotter and are never alone in the field. The spotter’s function is sometimes overlooked in films, despite being the more vital of the two. The team’s leader is the spotter.
