You must first obtain a degree from an approved institution and then register with SANC in order to become a certified nurse.

In South Africa, how many years are required to become a nurse?

Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing—1 Year

You will learn every essential aspect of providing care to individuals in this course. You will work under a licensed nurse who has earned a degree or diploma after completing the one-year course.

Four years for a bachelor’s degree in nursing sciences

You can become a midwife, general, community, or psychiatric nurse with this university degree. You will have both the theoretical and practical knowledge required for the field by the time you finish this degree. In Cape Town, public universities like the University of Cape Town (UCT), the University of the Western Cape, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the North-West University, and others provide nursing programs.

Three-year nursing diploma
