Who Qualifies to be an Invigilator in South Africa?

Applicants should be unemployed South Africa citizens above 25 years but below 60 years. Applicants must have a minimum of Grade 12 qualification. Foreign Nationals who have a passport and work permit which is valid for more than six (6) months, SAQA and DHET evaluation Certificate.

What qualifications do I need to be an invigilator?

The following are Skills and experience  needed to be an invigilator:

  • good communication skills.
  • good IT and administrative skills.
  • good organizational skills.
  • able to work as a member of a team.
  • an ability to adhere to rules and regulations.
  • to think clearly and make correct decisions in the event of an emergency in the exam room.

 

How much do invigilators get paid in South Africa?

The current rate (subject to change) for invigilation is R210, 20 per session for a senior invigilator and R140, 15 per session for an invigilator. Under no circumstances will invigilators be reimbursed for travel expenses.

In South Africa, Remuneration is R250 per examination session/ R300 per extra writing time examination session for invigilators, and R350 per examination session/ R400 per extra writing time examination session.
