You can compute your own APS score by accumulating the points from your six top high school subjects (excluding Life Orientation), and the percentage you obtained for each subject determines your points. Your APS is the overall number of points you obtain. The point system works like this: 80% – 100% = 7 points.

What Is the required APS score for a Bachelor’s Degree?

A Bachelor’s Degree pass, often known as a Matric exemption pass, requires a minimum APS of 23. However, accomplishing this does not ensure admission to a Bachelor’s Degree programme. Some courses will additionally have a higher APS requirement than the standard requirement.

The point system works like this:

80% – 100% = 7 points

70% – 79% = 6 points

60% – 69% = 5 points

50% – 59% = 4 points

40% – 49% = 3 points

30% – 39% = 2 points

0% − 29% = 1 point

Once you’ve added up all of your points, you’ll get your APS score. You may earn a maximum score of 42.

Minimum APS scores are required for undergraduate qualifications theses:

15 points for a higher certificate

18 points towards a diploma

Bachelor’s Degree – 21 or more points (depending of the qualification)
