How to become licensed to control pests
According to the Fertilizers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies, and Stock Remedies Act of 1947 (Act No. 36 of 1947) as amended and the regulations thereto as published in Government Notice No. R1449 of 1 July 1983, anyone who uses an agricultural remedy for compensation OR in the course of a business, industry, or trade must register as a pest control operator.

Has satisfactorily completed a program of study that the Registrar recognizes and has provided agricultural remedies for at least six months while being supervised by a licensed pest control operator, according to Regulation 2(3)(c). A sworn affidavit must be submitted to support experience (see lin).
Regulation 2(3)(d): Has continually provided agricultural treatments for four years in the course of a business, in the presence and under the supervision of a Registered Pest Control Operator. A sworn affidavit is required to support experience.
The Registrar takes students enrolled in the National Certificate in Pest Control into consideration for registration. Once a student has successfully completed one of the core courses, such as Environmental Pest Control, they are eligible to register in that particular field of registration.. Keep in mind that pest biology, pest control principles, and pesticide marketing are not the core topics.
The applicant must provide documentation showing that they have been using agricultural treatments for at least six months while working under the supervision of a licensed pest control operator.
Registration will only be granted if he completes his National Certificate in Pest Control within two years of the application date and provides documentation of his enrollment with TECHNISA when he applies to renew his registration. The Pest Control Operator’s registration as a Pest Control Operator will expire in accordance with section 4 of the aforementioned Act should he fail to adhere to this condition.

Note: If you are registering for a pest control service, the registration period shall Operator must remain in effect until June 30 of each year; however, if a registration is approved within a given calender year within three months of the applicable expiration date, the application will remain in effect until the relevant expiration date in the next calendar year.
