The National Senior Certificate or NSC is the current matriculation (matric) certificate, with grade 12 as the matriculation grade. The NSC, previously known as the Further Education and Training Certificate or FETC, replaced the Senior Certificate effectively in 2008, having been phased in with grade 10 in 2006.

 

 

 

How can I get my matric fast in South Africa?

The only way to obtain a matric in South Africa is by passing the exams. If you were unable to complete and pass your Matric certificate while in high school, you can apply for your Adult Matric, which can take between 12 and 24 months to complete on average. There is no fast track to getting a matric.

 

 

How do I check my South African matric certificate?

In South Africa,  you can verify your educational qualifications on the National Learners’ Records Database (NLRD)  via SAQA VeriSearch at the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) .

 

 

How can I get my Lost or damaged matric certificate re-issued to me in South Africa?

 Apply for replacement of your matric certificate (National Senior Certificate) at the Department of Basic Education or provincial department of education if you have lost or damaged your original certificate. You may apply and pay for the re-issue online.

You can request the statement of results while waiting for the release of your certificate. If the certificate is damaged, you must return the damaged certificate to the department of Basic Education.

Please note: Applying for your lost or damaged matric certificate might differ from one province to another.

 

How can I do a change of status for my Matric certificate in South Africa?

If you wrote matric in more than one examination sitting and you want to combine your credits to qualify for a National Certificate, you must apply for replacement certificate: change of status.

However, the department does not automatically combine your credits, unless you took a supplementary exam. You can also apply for this online. You can also apply for confirmation statement of results while waiting for the National Senior Certificate.
