If you discover your lost device after blacklisting it, you may need to un-blacklist it. To un-blacklist your device, make a free phone call to your service provider. (Normal charges apply when calling from another mobile operator’s or landline number.)

Is it possible to unlock a blacklisted phone?

Once your gadget has been removed off the blacklist, you can use it or sell it. Unfortunately, if the smartphone was blacklisted by the previous owner by reporting it as lost or stolen, the carrier will be unable to remove or unlock the phone.

Can a phone that has been blacklisted be used in South Africa?

If your phone is banned and your IMEI number is in the database of blacklisted phones, no one in South Africa may use it.

Can you pay to have a phone unblacklisted?

Yes, a banned phone may be unlocked. There are third-party firms that can assist with this. They will use the phone’s IMEI or ESN number to unlock a banned phone. Phone service providers may also unlock banned phones.

What happens if you ban a phone number in South Africa?

After blacklisting, the device remains inactive on all networks (if they enable blacklisting), and it cannot be used again unless the telecommunications service provider un-blacklists it (or the IMEI number is (illegally) altered). The banned phone cannot be located.

How long does it take to blacklist a phone?

Stolen phones may be banned for up to 30 days following the theft. Because fraudulent behavior might take longer to identify, phones used in fraudulent activity may be banned for up to 120 days after the incident.

Can a blacklisted phone connect to the Internet?

Yes, any smartphone can connect to WiFi. It is prohibited from utilizing solely mobile networks.
