HWSETA Bursary Competition (Undergraduate) 2025-2026:
The Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority is offering bursaries to students for the upcoming academic year. This undergraduate bursary competition is administered and organized by HWSETA and its related organizations.
HWSETA will award two bursaries to undergraduate students pursuing degrees in the fields of Health Science, Veterinary Science, and Social Development/Social Science. The bursary covers expenses such as accommodation, books, meals, and tuition fees.
Eligibility Criteria:
Before applying for the bursary, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship with a valid ID card/ID book.
- Completion of Matric or currently pursuing the Matric examination. If currently in Matric, candidates must have Science and Mathematics as subjects. If Matric has been completed, candidates must have achieved Matric exemption in Science and Mathematics.
- Enrollment or intent to study one of the degree courses mentioned by HWSETA at an accredited and recognized tertiary educational institution in South Africa.
- Minimum average mark of 75% in the previous examination.
- Agreement to meet the requirements and terms and conditions set by HWSETA.
- Not being a staff member of HWSETA or related promotional partners and affiliated agencies.
- Not receiving bursary funding from any other source.
How to Apply:
To apply for the HWSETA Bursary Competition (Undergraduate) 2025-2026, follow these steps:
- Apply online by filling out the online application form, ensuring you meet all the eligibility criteria set by HWSETA.
- Create a 30-60 second video explaining why you deserve the bursary.
- Publish the video on any of your social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter). Tag @hwseta_sa and use the hashtags #HWCareerBursaries and #HWCareers. Alternatively, you can post the video on any of HWSETA’s social media platforms (Facebook: @HWSETA, Instagram: @hwseta_sa, or Twitter: @HWSETA_SA).
- Candidates are allowed to apply only once. After submitting the video, you will receive an email confirming your entry.
- The bursary team will initially select 5-10 finalists, from which two preliminary finalists will be selected and moved to the vetting round.
- Winners will be contacted via telephone and email. After passing the vetting and document screening rounds, candidates must attend an interview.
- Following the interview, bursary recipients will be selected, and chosen applicants will be required to sign a contract. HWSETA will also announce the winners on their social media platforms and through press releases.
Documents Required:
Candidates selected for the vetting round must submit the following documents:
- Certified copy of ID document.
- Certified copies of the Matric certificate or copies of the latest examination results.
- If pursuing undergraduate degree courses, provide the complete academic record on the institution’s letterhead.
- Proof of registration/application at the University, preferably on their official letterhead.
