At the time of writing this article on August 21 21, 2022, Today cannot be considered a public holiday in South Africa.

According to the Public Holidays Act (Act No 36 of 1994), South Africa has 12 public holidays. Whenever a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday after it is a public holiday, as specified by the law.

 

Here is The List Of Public Holidays In South Africa

January 1: New Year is celebrated.

March 21 is Human Rights Day.

Good Friday is April 15.

April 18: Family Day is celebrated.

April 27: Independence Day

May 1: Workers’ Day is dedicated to workers’ rights and commemorates workers’ struggles worldwide.

June 16 is Youth Day.

August 9: National Women’s Day is commemorated.

September 24 is Heritage Day.

The Day of Reconciliation is on December 16.

Christmas Day is December 25.

Goodwill day is December 26.

The dates on which Good Friday and Easter Sunday fall are determined according to the ecclesiastical lunar phases. That occurs between late March and April, but those phases vary from year to year.

The Public Holidays Act (36 of 1994) determines that if any public holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday after it shall be a public holiday.
