The Jakes Gerwel Fellowship Program is offering a Graduate Teaching Fellowship (GTF) for the 2025-2026 academic year. This fellowship is available to students who are entering their post-graduation studies at the following universities:

About The Jakes Gerwel Foundation:
The Jakes Gerwel Foundation was established in honor of the late academic Jakes Gerwel, who was passionate about using education to combat poverty. The foundation focuses on the arts and provides mentorship to young writers, lyricists, and songwriters. It also offers a residency for Afrikaans writers in collaboration with PEN Afrikaans.
Fellowship Requirements And Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Jakes Gerwel Fellowship Program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship.
- Maximum age of 30 years at the time of application.
- Graduates or final-year undergraduates.
- Excellent academic records.
- Intending to pursue a PGCE course in 2024.
- Applied or enrolled at one of the specified universities.
- Interest in teaching and becoming a high school teacher.
- Commitment to the JGF program and its vision to change education in South Africa.
Application Process:
