Master Artisan Academy South Africa MAASA
Master Artisan Academy South Africa (MAASA): Elevating Technical Excellence
In the wake of a notable decline in artisanal training quality and availability, South Africa has faced a dire scarcity of advanced technical prowess. MAASA was conceived as a beacon of renewal, pledging to uplift the calibre of artisan skills across the nation.
Our Educational Focus:
At MAASA, we concentrate on cultivating expertise in pivotal sectors:
- Renewable and Sustainable Energy Technologies
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering, inclusive of specialized Welding and Fitting
Our educational ethos is a tapestry of time-honored artisan techniques enriched by the precision of German training philosophies. We embrace an integrated, blended learning model, coupling theoretical foundations with practical applications in state-of-the-art facilities, under the tutelage of adept instructors and supplemented by on-the-job learning experiences.
Accreditation and Recognition:
The academy stands as a bastion of quality, accredited by merSETA (17-QA/ACC/0536/10), and operates under the registration (2010/005795/07), affirming our commitment to upholding the highest standards of artisan training.
Tailored Training for a Competitive Edge:
MAASA’s training programs are engineered to imbue our trainees with skills, knowledge, and attitudes essential for peak performance in a competitive, technologically-forward industry, translating into either workforce enhancement or new employment opportunities.
Our Training Delivery System:
We offer a diverse array of learning paths, including:
- Learnerships for comprehensive qualifications
- Apprenticeships for complete trade credentials

- Professionals aiming to upgrade their expertise with specialized training
Roll-Out of Training:
A collaborative training schedule is meticulously developed in harmony with client workplaces, learners, and MAASA. This includes both MAASA-centric and bespoke company-specific skills programs.
Resource-Rich Training Environments:
Learners are immersed in an educational journey spanning workshops, labs, classrooms, and simulated on-site settings, all carefully choreographed to the requirements of the training mode and qualification level.
Each learner is equipped with comprehensive learning materials, including guides, workbooks, and a Portfolio of Evidence, alongside cutting-edge tools and equipment pertinent to their field of study.
Assessment and Progress Tracking:
We adopt continuous formative assessments, culminating in a final summative assessment or trade test, with periodic progress reports after each phase.
Expert Facilitation:
Our faculty consists of master artisans, complemented by workshop assistants, ensuring personalized attention with practical groups capped at 15 learners.
Prerequisites and Course Details:
Trainees must meet SAQA’s prerequisites for their selected qualifications. Course durations are flexible, with the option for customization to meet employer requirements, and instruction is primarily in English.
Safety and Equipment Protocol:
Trainees are expected to commence training with the prescribed safety attire. Responsibility for the maintenance and care of allocated tools and equipment lies with each trainee, with accountability measures in place for negligence.
Cancellation Policy:
We have a transparent cancellation policy, with stipulated fees for late cancellations and no refunds for non-attendance or disciplinary dismissals.
State-of-the-Art Facilities:
Our campus is architected to support our immersive training approach, complete with administration, instructional spaces, workshops, laboratories, and accessible facilities for all trainees.
