Milpark Business School Higher Certificate in Management (HCM)
This entry-level, post-school, higher education qualification is designed to equip the student with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to function in entry-level management roles in almost any type of organisation.
Students will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the management functions of planning, organising, leading and controlling.
- perform a basic analysis of the business environment.
- implement basic human resource best practices within a work environment.
- apply basic project management techniques in solving an organisational problem, thus contributing towards implementing the organisational strategy.
- integrate foundational knowledge from selected management disciplines in solving problems within familiar organisational contexts.
CAREERS
The Higher Certificate in Management produces people who are able to work in the different management functions needed by most businesses. This qualification provides a “basic level of higher education knowledge” and ensures that the qualifying student is able to “[apply] such knowledge and competence in an occupation or role in the workplace” (HEQF). The programme is typically suitable for:
- a person with some work experience, who wishes to acquire formal management training in order to fully qualify for a junior management position.
- a person with some work experience, who wishes to acquire formal management training in order to fully qualify for a junior management position with a special interest in Occupational Health and Safety.
- a school leaver, who requires a Higher Certificate for access into a Diploma or Degree programme of study.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
A knowledge, comprehension and application of the English language at NQF Level 4 (Grade 12 or equivalent level) is required.
