ABOUT THE NORTH WEST PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT BURSARY PROGRAMMES – FIELDS COVERED
The North West Provincial Government, Office of the Premier, is pleased to announce the Victor Thebe Sifora Provincial Bursary Scheme for the 2025-2026 academic year. This bursary program is open to students residing within the North West province and offers support in various fields of study:
Community Safety & Transport Management:
- Information Technology (Degree/ National Diploma)
- Transport Economics (BCom Degree)
Department of Agriculture & Rural Development:
- Agriculture – Agro Meteorologist (BSc)
- Agriculture – Bio Resource Engineering (BSc)
- Agriculture – Economists (BSc)
- Agriculture – Geographic Information Systems (BSc)
- Agriculture – Land Care Specialists (BSc)
- Agriculture – Science (BSc)
- Agriculture – Soil Science (BSc)
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)
- Community Development Studies (BSc)
- Risk and Disaster Management (National Diploma)
- Rural Development Studies (BSc)
- Veld Management (National Diploma)
- Veterinary Technology (B Vet)
Department of Arts, Culture, Sports & Recreation:
Various fields in the arts, culture, and sports including archival studies, film and television, history, library and information science, linguistics, sign language, and translation studies.
Department of Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs:
Fields of study such as anthropology, civil engineering, disaster management, monitoring & evaluation, organizational development, and town & regional planning.
Department of Economic Development, Environment & Tourism:
- Business Management (Bachelor’s Degree)
- Climate Change (Master’s Degree)
- Graphic Design and Videography (Diploma)
- Information Technology (BSc)
- Marketing (Bachelor’s Degree)
Department of Education:
Various Bachelor of Education (BEd) programs and civil engineering and mechanical engineering qualifications.
Department of Health:
Various health-related fields including audiology, pharmacy, dentistry, dietetics, medical orthotics and prosthetics, medicine, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech therapy.
Department of Human Settlement:
Civil engineering, construction/building, construction project management, quantity surveying, and urban/town and regional planning.
Department of Public Works & Roads:
Fields like architecture, civil engineering, construction project management engineering, electrical engineering, landscape, mechanical engineering, and quantity surveying.
Department of Social Development:
Various fields including information technology, law, organizational development, project management, and safety management.
Office of The Premier:
Multiple fields such as public administration, information systems, economics, strategic management, financial management, and computer science.
Provincial Treasury:
Qualifications in accounting, human resources, information systems, internal auditing, public administration, and more.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NWPG BURSARIES
Applicants must meet these minimum eligibility criteria before applying:
- South African citizenship
- Residency within the North West province
- Currently in Matric or Matric completed
- Full-time study towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the mentioned fields in 2025-2026
- Enrollment at a recognized and accredited public tertiary institution in South Africa (private institutions considered exceptionally)
- Strong academic record
- Demonstrated financial need
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE NWPG BURSARIES
Submit your application online at NWPG Bursary Application 2025-2026.
Ensure you enter “Uni24.co.za” in the field asking how you heard about the NWPG bursary.
Include clear copies of the following supporting documents with your completed application (compulsory – missing items may lead to disqualification):
- Certified copy of your ID document
- Certified copy of Matric final results/ certificate (NSC certificate by 7 January)
- Certified copy of final results/ latest academic results (if currently studying)
- Certified copy of the university acceptance letter (if available)
- Proof of parents or guardians’ income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, pension statements if on state pension, death certificate if deceased)
- Proof of residence (letter from Traditional Authority Offices for village residents, letter from Municipality Offices for those in towns, townships, or farms)
- Proof of disability (doctor’s letter/medical record) if applicable
Note: If you haven’t received your university acceptance or final year-end results (Matric or tertiary level), submit your application without them and send the outstanding documents by 7 January.
CLOSING DATE FOR THE NWPG BURSARY
Applications must be submitted by 30 November. Late applications will not be accepted.
