Rhodes University offers an Extended Studies Programme for students who do not meet the standard admissions requirements. This program allows students to complete their degree over four years instead of the usual three. The Extended Studies Programme is available for the following faculties:

Rhodes Business Analysis Academic Programme This is a 5-month intensive program designed for Black African unemployed graduates. It provides a qualification in Business Analysis along with relevant soft skills. The program includes workplace simulation and aims to place participants in full-time employment upon completion. Admission Requirements and Points Calculation Rhodes University calculates an admission points score based on the following criteria:

  • Only the top 6 subjects are considered.
  • These must include Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, First Language, and First Additional Language.
  • Life Orientation and Maths Paper 3 are not awarded any points.
  • Each subject mark is divided by 10 and rounded off to the first decimal place.

For example:

  • English Home Language: 81% = 8.1 points
  • Afrikaans First Additional Language: 69% = 6.9 points
  • Mathematics: 75% = 7.5 points
  • History: 88% = 8.8 points
  • Life Science: 78% = 7.8 points
  • Accounting: 85% = 8.5 points
  • Total: 47.6 points
