​WHAT YOU CAN BECOME​

Students will be able to work in travel and tourism, sport, corporate, government and general events. This means the opportunity is widened and allows students access into many fields because of the general nature of the event qualification. Events is an exciting industry to work in as it unleashes innovation and creativity. The events field allows for growth – students can start as a coordinator, progress to become an event manager and ultimately end up running a corporate affairs division or their own events consultancy. It allows for travel opportunities, exciting places to stay, variation in work, all because each event is different. The qualifying students can be employed in a wide range of corporate organisations, parastatal, governmental departments and event management consultancies in various industries as junior or trainee event managers.

SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP​

This IIE qualification prepares graduates to coordinate and manage a broad spectrum of events in a professional manner. Students are equipped with the ability and skills to plan, coordinate and execute events in various industries and sectors.

TIME NEEDED TO COMPLETE YOUR QUALIFICATION

Full-time: This is a one year full-time qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at Rosebank College. Lectures take place during the day on weekdays. This qualification is offered at the following campuses:  Braamfontein, Pretoria CBD and Durban CBD.

THE WEIGHT YOUR FUTURE QUALIFICATION CARRIES

This Higher Certificate is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). It is also registered with the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) atLevel 5 (SAQA ID NO: 84686)​. Upon completion of your studies you will receive a Higher Certificate in Event Management from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), the leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To register, you must meet one of the following entry requirements:

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Higher Certificate admission- A minimum of 30 % for English is required; OR
• A National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) with Higher Certificate admission – A minimum of 40 % in English on either First Additional Language or Home Language level,  with a minimum of 30 % in either Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy, a minimum of 40% in Life Orientation and a minimum of 50% in four vocational subjects; OR
• A Senior Certificate (SC)  (without endorsement) or equivalent – A minimum of five of the six required subjects must be passed.
