Rosebank College Orientation Week

Rosebank College Orientation Week

Ever wondered what goes on at Orientation Week and whether it is worth attending? Wonder no more. We help you answer some of your Frequently Asked Questions.

What exactly is Orientation Week?

Orientation or O Week as it is also called is our way of welcoming you to Rosebank College. It consists of social and academic activities designed to introduce you to life at Rosebank College.  The purpose is to introduce students to staff and our facilities. We will provide a campus tour and show our new students the different aspects of student life, while also offering useful advice on how to adapt from school to tertiary life. Orientation will take place during the week from 22 to 26 February

Why should I attend?

We encourage new students to take part in Orientation, as they will be shown how to use the student portal, they can meet new friends and they will have a better idea of how to survive their first year. Timetables and student cards will also be issued during this week. But more importantly it’s actually a lot of fun!

Do students have to attend Orientation Week?

It is not compulsory but beneficial. When classes start a week later, you will be familiar with your new campus and you will have a timetable in hand. You will not feel lost.

What happens if I can’t attend?

All presentations, “how to’s” and handouts will be available on the student portal as well. Extended orientation will take place every week. You can also ask your program coordinator to assist you with any uncertainties.

Do I have to pay to attend Orientation Week?

No

I’m a distance student, do I need to attend Orientation Week?

No, all your information will be available on your portal. You are not attending a campus, so getting to know the campus will not help you. You have different support when you have log in queries.

Can I bring someone with me to Orientation?

Preferably not. Due to the huge number of students, we have limited space. And if you bring a friend, you will not interact with your fellow students.

Do I have to register to attend Orientation? If so where?

No, the schedule will be posted on our Facebook page and SMS’s will be sent out next week to inform you of the day your programme is scheduled for orientation as well as on which campus it will be. Registers will be signed on the day.

What activities do we have scheduled?

Each campus will have their own scheduled activities. At the Braamfontein Campus, Mega Campus for example, The Gym Company will offer fitness classes. Love life and Life Line will be on campus, there will be a car show and Freshman Games on Friday the 26th February 2016.
