SA Plumbing Trade School
PCD College is a plumbing trade school in South Africa.
“Plumbing (from the Latin word plumbum, for lead) is the skilled trade of working with pipes, tubing and plumbing fixtures for drinking water systems and the drainage of waste. A plumber is someone who installs or repairs piping systems, plumbing fixtures and equipment such as geysers. The plumbing industry is a basic and substantial part of every developed economy due to the need for clean water, and proper collection and transport of wastes.”
The PCD College plumbing school centre was started in 2003 and was the pioneer of private plumbing course training in South Africa. It is now virtually impossible for mature people to re-train as plumbers, and many school leavers are reluctant to enter into learner-ship programs in the building trades which has contributed to the nationwide shortage of skilled artisans.
All our courses are offered by CETA accredited assessors and moderators. Our Plumbing School is also registered with CETA and our registration number is 5K5982.
Good plumbers will always be in great demand, probably more than any other building trade. Most plumbing problems in people’s homes need to be fixed straightaway to avoid damage to property, keep all the appliances working and toilets and drains working correctly.
Even in times of recession plumbers will always be busy.
The plumbing courses that we run will enable anyone, male or female, to start a new career, to achieve a complete career change, compliment other building trades, start your own business or to be able to carry out your own projects at home.
There are three plumbing courses currently offered at The PCD College plumbing school Centre. The Basic Plumbing Course or “Introduction to Plumbing” is a two week course that focuses primarily on the theoretical aspects of plumbing. It covers all the relevant SABS regulations and includes all the relevant plumbing knowledge to enter confidently into the skilled trade of plumber. The second course, “Advanced Plumbing Course” is an all hands on practical, actually doing it, based course. You work on a one to one base with your designated assessor. The three courses complement each other yet can be completed separately depending on the individual candidates experience or prior learning. Our third course is “Solar Geyser installation course”. Here at PCD College we truly believe that actually doing plumbing tasks in a realistic plumbing workshop environment to be the best way to learn this lucrative skill. We do not believe that plumbing skills can be learned from reading books alone, hands on tuition is a must. While theory is important, and should be seen as a foundation we believe that your training is only complete with a practical course that exceeds the Department of labour trade test assessment equipment for registration as Plumber.
To compliment your training, every student receives a certificate. Job report forms are written up by the student on all aspects of their training and signed off by our in-house qualified assessors. We also advise that taking of photographs of all projects undertaken to make up the portfolio. All courses offered by the plumbing college are CETA accredited and certified. Your certificate on successful completion lists the modules that were attained.
Both courses are suitable for the novice or first time plumbers and also those plumbers who have spent years in the trade but have not been able to formalise there valuable work experience into a meaningful qualification. Our students who satisfy the experience requirements for certification by the Department of Labour have little difficulty in meeting the written pre-test requirement and completing the two day “Trade Test” successfully.
If you are looking for an opportunity to take control of your own future and want to have an outstanding plumbing training experience that will equip you for the future then PCD College plumbing school is the place to be.
