SACEE Norah Taylor Bursary 2026-2027

ABOUT THE COMPANY – SACEE

The South African Council for English Education (SACEE) is a non-profit organization founded in 1955 to protect the usage of the English language. Today, SACEE’s mission is to support the teaching and learning of the English language in South Africa. They encourage, promote, and maintain the improvement of spoken and written English.

SACEE has branches across the country, including Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, East London, Port Elizabeth, and the Mid-Vaal. They also have a National office located in Pretoria.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The SACEE Norah Taylor bursary is intended for qualified, practicing teachers with a minimum of M+3 qualification and at least four years of teaching experience. The bursary is for teachers who wish to further their studies in the following fields:

  1. Speech training
  2. Oral communication
  3. English Teaching (first or second language)

Shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview at their nearest SACEE branch (at their own expense).

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be eligible for the bursary:

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Intending to study one of the specified fields in South Africa (correspondence, part-time, or full-time)
  • Qualified teacher with a minimum of M+3 qualification
  • Minimum of four years teaching experience

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

To apply for the SACEE Norah Taylor Bursary:

  1. Download and complete the SACEE Norah Taylor Bursary application form, available in either Word (.doc) or PDF (.pdf) format.
  2. Alternatively, obtain a copy of the application form from the SACEE National Office in Queenswood, Pretoria.

Submit the following supporting documents along with your completed application form:

  • Certified copy of your ID document
  • Certified copy of your Matric certificate
  • Certified copies of any relevant Degrees, Diplomas, or Certificates
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) showing your work experience

CLOSING DATE

The closing date for applications is 31 July annually. Applications for 2026-2027 will reopen in June. Late applications will not be accepted.
