About the Company – SARS:
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) serves as the tax collection agency of the government of South Africa. Established through the South African Revenue Service Act 34 of 1997, SARS is responsible for ensuring compliance with tax laws and the collection of revenue for the government. As an autonomous agency, SARS administers customs services and oversees the tax system in South Africa.
About the Bursary Program – Fields Covered:
In partnership with Career Wise, SARS offers bursary awards to academically exceptional students. The bursaries are available for studies in the following fields:
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current/Electronic)
- Geology
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgy Engineering
- Mine Survey
- Mining Engineering
- Accounting
- Information Systems
- Actuarial Science
- Chemistry
- Computer Science
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- South African citizenship or South African permanent residency
- Completion of Matric or current enrollment in Matric
- Intention to study one of the mentioned fields at an undergraduate level
- Enrollment in or intention to study at a recognized South African tertiary institution
- Demonstrated financial need
- For Engineering/Geology/Science degree applicants: Minimum Level 6 for Mathematics and Science in Matric
- For Accounting degree applicants: Minimum Level 6 for Mathematics in Matric

Ensure you provide clear copies of the following supporting documents along with your completed application form (for online applications, upload these documents to your online profile):
- Certified copy of your ID document
- Passport-size photograph
- Grade 11 final results (for current Matric students)
- Proof of admission into a tertiary institution (for current Matric students)
- Matric certificate (if completed Matric)
- Full academic record to date (for current tertiary students)
Closing Date:
The application deadline is May 30th annually. Please submit your application before this date to ensure it is considered.
