SASSA Payment Dates
April 2026 — Every Grant,
Every Date, Confirmed
Older Persons, Disability, Children’s Grants and SRD R370 — exact dates for April 2026, the Easter shift explained, new grant amounts from Budget 2026, and what to do if your money doesn’t arrive.
April 2026 is not a normal SASSA payment month. Easter weekend falls directly in the path of the standard three-day payment cycle, pushing two of the four main grant payments significantly later than beneficiaries are used to. If you plan your shopping, transport, or household budget around the first few days of the month, April will catch you off guard unless you know the adjusted dates in advance.
This guide gives you every confirmed date, the full explanation for the Easter shift, the new grant amounts that take effect in April 2026 following the February Budget, and practical guidance on collection, missed payments, and the SRD R370 specifically.

Why April Dates Are Later Than Normal: Easter Explained
Four consecutive non-banking days push grants into the second week
Good Friday falls on 3 April, Easter Saturday on 4 April, Easter Sunday on 5 April, and Easter Monday (Family Day) on 6 April — four consecutive non-banking days pushing both the Disability Grant and Children’s Grants into the following week.
SASSA’s policy is to move any payment date that falls on a weekend or public holiday to the next available business day. The Disability Grant would normally fall on 3 April. But 3 April is Good Friday — a national public holiday. The next available business day after that entire cluster is Tuesday, 7 April. Children’s Grants follow on Wednesday, 8 April. This is not a system error or a delay — it is SASSA’s standard public holiday adjustment working exactly as intended.
For families who rely on Children’s Grants to buy food or pay for school transport at the start of the month, the shift from the usual 5th or 6th to the 8th is meaningful. Plan your April budget with the 8th in mind — not the 3rd. And if anyone in your community is confused about why their grant “hasn’t come” in the first week of April, point them here.
New Grant Amounts from April 2026
South Africa’s 26 million social grant beneficiaries are getting an increase from April 2026 following Finance Minister Godongwana’s Budget Speech in February. Government will spend R292.8 billion on social grants in the 2026/27 financial year. The increases take effect with the April payment cycle — meaning the new amounts apply from 2 April onwards for Older Persons, and from the respective dates for other grant types.
| Grant Type | Before April 2026 | From April 2026 | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Older Persons Grant (under 75) | R2,370 | R2,400 | +R30 |
| Older Persons Grant (75 and above) | R2,390 | R2,420 | +R30 |
| Disability Grant | R2,370 | R2,400 | +R30 |
| Care Dependency Grant | R2,370 | R2,400 | +R30 |
| Child Support Grant | R560 | R580 | +R20 |
| Foster Care Grant | R1,250 | R1,290 | +R40 |
| Grant-in-Aid | R510 | R530 | +R20 |
| War Veterans Grant | R2,390 | R2,420 | +R30 |
| SRD R370 Grant | R370 | R370 | No increase |
While the increases are slightly above inflation, they fall short of the R130 boost pensioners received in 2025. The SRD grant remains at R370 — no increase has been confirmed for this amount in the 2026/27 financial year. SASSA automatically adjusts payments to the new rates — beneficiaries do not need to apply, submit documents, or visit an office. The system updates automatically from April.
Where to Collect Your April Grant
SASSA offers several ways to collect your grant each month: direct deposit into your personal bank account, your SASSA Gold Card at any ATM, and cash back at Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, and Checkers stores nationwide.
Your SRD R370 April 2026 Date
The SRD grant works differently from all other SASSA grants. There is no single April payment date that applies to all recipients. Each approved application is processed individually, and your specific payment date depends on your approval status and chosen payment method. To find your exact April 2026 SRD payment date, visit the official SASSA SRD status portal at srd.sassa.gov.za and enter your 13-digit ID number and registered cellphone number. Your personalised payment date will display there.
If your status shows “approved” but your payment date has not yet been assigned, check again after the 20th of April. SRD payment date assignments for a given month typically populate in the second half of that month. Checking before the 20th and seeing nothing does not mean your grant has been declined for that month.
If Your Payment Doesn’t Arrive
Payments usually appear in your bank account within three to five working days after the official payment date. Delays may occur during public holidays or due to banking processes. With Easter weekend in early April, allow for additional processing time before escalating. If nothing has arrived by five working days after your payment date, contact SASSA directly.
Go to your nearest SASSA office in person with your ID and proof of your new banking details. Do not attempt to redirect a payment through a third party or unverified service. SASSA can only update banking details when you appear in person with valid documentation.
SASSA’s black Grindrod bank cards have been discontinued. If you have not yet switched to the new SASSA Gold Card or linked your grant to a personal bank account, visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID immediately. Your payments are accumulating but you cannot access them until your card or banking details are updated.
Check your SRD status online to view your payment date for the month. If your status shows “approved” but no payment date is showing, check again after the 20th of the month. If a payment date was shown and the money did not arrive, contact the SASSA helpline with your ID number and reference details ready.

Safety Tips for April 2026 Collection
- Always bring your South African ID and SASSA card Both are required at pay points and Post Office branches for verification. No ID, no collection.
- Avoid collecting on your exact payment date if possible The day of payment is the busiest at ATMs and retailers. Collecting a day or two later means shorter queues and less risk of card skimming at congested machines.
- Never share your PIN with anyone — including people offering to help SASSA staff, retail assistants, and pay point agents do not need your PIN. Anyone asking for it is attempting fraud.
- Go with someone you trust if you are elderly or mobility-impaired April’s shifted schedule means larger crowds in the second week. Having company reduces risk significantly.
- Check your balance immediately after your payment date Confirming the correct amount arrived — especially in April with the new increased amounts — lets you catch any discrepancy early while it can still be corrected.
- Report suspicious activity at pay points immediately Call the SASSA fraud hotline on 0800 601 011. Card skimming, fake SASSA agents, and cash theft at ATMs spike around payment dates.
