Undergraduate Applications for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
The University received more than 44000 applications for approximately 1000 available places. As a result, meeting admission requirements does not guarantee an applicant automatic admission. The University is currently busy with preliminary selections and all applications will go through a rigorous and competitive selection process. Offers will be based on merit and available spaces

Details of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences Online Application 2024-2025
Please note:
a. Applicants will be informed about the outcome of pre selection through email or SMS at the beginning of November 2021.
b. Applicants may also check the status of their applications on the SMU website, on the link: https://lifestudent.smu.ac.za/pls/prodi41/w99pkg.mi_login. (use your student number and pin).
c. The University will make final selections after the release of Grade 12 results in January
d. Successful applicants will be given three (3) days to accept or decline the offer.
e. There are limited places in University residence and admission to study at SMU does not guarantee a place in residence. The places are awarded on a first come first served basis and the University is not obliged to provide a place in the residence.
f. You should use the reference/student number in correspondence with the University.
We wish applicants who will be writing Grade 12 examinations, well in their examinations.

- Certified copy of your ID/passport document (compulsory).
- Certified final Grade 11 results or Grade 12 June results or your National Senior/Matric/ IEB Certificate (if you have already completed Grade 12).
- Certified copies of your degree certificate(s) and academic record(s) (if you attended other universities).
- Certified copy of your marriage certificate/ divorce decree (if applicable).
- Proof of non-refundable application fee payment of R200.

- Your application will not be processed if you have not submitted all the required applicable documentation mentioned above.
- If you have not submitted the required documentation within a period of two months, unfortunately your application will not be considered.
- The University receives more applications than it can accommodate and meeting admissions requirements does not guarantee admission.
- There are limited places in University residence and admission to study at SMU does not guarantee a place in residence. The places are awarded on a first come first served basis and the University is not obliged to provide a place in the residence.
- All non-South African citizens and non-permanent residents are required to obtain a study permit prior to registering as students. Applications for study permits should be submitted to the South African Home Affairs, Consulate or High Commissioner in your country of residence/origin, and it would be issued in favour of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University and to be submitted during registration.
- Application forms submitted after the closing dates will not be considered.
