Admission Requirements for Civil Engineering in 2025-2026:

  • Senior Certificate: B symbols (70-79%) at Standard Grade or C symbols (60-69%) at Higher Grade in English, Mathematics, and Physical Science.
  • National Senior Certificate: Bachelor’s degree endorsement, with at least level 5 for English, Mathematics/Technical Mathematics, and Physical Sciences/Technical Science.
  • National Certificate (Vocational): Minimum 60% in English, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or Applied Engineering Technology at NQF Level 4.
  • Admission Point Score (APS): Minimum of 28.

Curriculum Overview

First Year

  • Core Modules: Computer Literacy, Communication Skills, Engineering Graphics, Mathematics I, Surveying, Information Literacy, Life Skills, Mechanics.
  • Semesters: Civil Engineering Materials, Physics, Construction Principles, Chemistry.
  • Total Credits: 140

Second Year

  • Core Modules: Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Analysis and Strength, Transportation Engineering I, Water Engineering I, Engineering Mathematics II, Probability and Statistics.
  • Total Credits: 140

Third Year

  • Core Modules: Integrated Civil Engineering Project, Structural Design, Transportation Engineering II, Water Engineering II, Scientific Computing, Civil Engineering Practice.
