Admission Information for the Pretoria Campus

- You should have one of the following qualifications:
- National Diploma in Three-Dimensional Design
- Diploma in Industrial Design
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design
- NQF Level 6 qualification in Industrial Design from an accredited South African university with an average of 60% or more.
- If you are in the process of completing the National Diploma in Three-Dimensional Design or Diploma in Industrial Design at TUT, you may be considered based on the average of your final year mid-year portfolio assessment. Admission is subject to successful completion of your current qualification and the Faculty’s Student Enrolment Plan (SEP).
- Holders of other equivalent South African or international qualifications may also be considered, but they should apply at least six months in advance for the recognition of such qualifications. You will need to submit an evaluation of your qualifications by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) with your application for admission.
- The University and/or Faculty reserves the right to assess these qualifications and your suitability and/or competence for admission. Depending on the nature of an equivalent qualification, you may be required to complete certain additional subjects. Proof of English proficiency may also be required.
- You should have one of the following qualifications:
- Selection Criteria: Candidates will be selected based on academic performance and/or work experience. Selection will take place after the closing date for applications. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
- Minimum Duration: One year.
- Presentation: Day classes.
- Intake for the Qualification: January only.
- Exclusion and Readmission: Refer to Chapter 2 of Students’ Rules and Regulations.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Equivalence, and Status: Refer to Chapter 30 of Students’ Rules and Regulations.
