BACCALAUREUS TECHNOLOGIAE IN NURSING: OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH Qualification Code: BTON02 – NQF Level 7 Campus: Pretoria Campus

Admission Details:
a. Prerequisites:
- A basic NQF Level 6 bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma in nursing from a recognized South African institution.
- Professional Nurse registration with the South African Nursing Council.
- A minimum of one year’s clinical experience post qualification and current clinical employment.
- International qualifications are considered but require a South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluation submitted alongside the application.
- Proof of English proficiency might be necessary. Specific additional courses may be needed depending on the equivalency of the qualification.
b. Selection Method: Applicants undergo evaluation by a departmental selection committee.
c. Course Duration: The course spans one year but is presented in block-mode over two years.
d. Intake Period: Admissions open in January.

f. Recognition of Prior Learning and Equivalence: Consult Chapter 30 of the Student’s Handbook for details.
g. Work-Integrated Learning: This component is woven throughout the curriculum.

- Nursing Management IVA (NMG40AT) – 0.075 credits

- Occupational Health IV (OCH400T): Covers the history and variables of occupational health, risk assessments, occupational safety, workplace hygiene, and health promotion.
- Occupational Health Nursing Theory IV (OCN40PT): Delves into the principles, fundamentals, and roles of occupational health nursing, as well as workplace assessments, disease screenings, and treatment modalities.
