GENERAL INFORMATION FOR NEW APPLICANTS RELEVANT TO THE DISTANCE EDUCATION UNIT OF TUT

A.General remarks and information

1.The details below apply specifically to distance education applicants.

2.Please ensure that you read the information sections below, the instruction sections below and comply with all requirements before you submit an Application for Admission Form for a distance education programme.

3.Submission of Application for Admission Forms for qualifications not offered by means of the distance education mode of delivery at TUT will be disregarded. Courses not offered by Distance Education: The admission process for day/evening/block/post graduate or any other form or mode of delivery should be done as set out in Part 1 of the TUT Prospectus available at www.tut.ac.za

4.All TUT Rules and Regulations (Part 1) and/or part/s of the TUT Prospectus apply to distance education applicants and students. Please consult the relevant documents at www.tut.ac.za

5.The closing date for Application for Admission for 2019is 30 November 2017.

6.Submitting a distance education Application for Admission Form to TUT in any other way than instructed below will result in your application being disregarded.

7.Students who have studied at TUT Distance Education before should not complete the Application for Admission Form. Please refer to the Re‐admission link on the Distance Education home page.

8.Use the address and contact details as set out below. Failure to do so will result in no or poor service delivery.

9.The University accepts no responsibility for the conduct, processes, limitations or service quality of the National Postal services.

10.The University accepts no responsibility for any service, event, situation or agreement that is not contractually based according to the set TUT requirements.

11.Information relevant to distance education students will be published on the TUT Distance Education website from time to time. Current and prospective students are responsible to access the website on a regular basis.

B. Course information

Only the following programmes are offered on the distance education mode of delivery:

National Diploma Policing – code (NDP099)

National Diploma Road Traffic and Municipal Police Management: Municipal and Traffic Policing‐ code (NDRY03)

Baccalaureus Technologiae: Policing – code ( BTP098)

Baccalaureus Technologiae: Road Traffic and Municipal Police Management: Municipal and Traffic Policing – code (BTRY03)

Important Information

Applicants have to attend compulsory contact classes in block format at the TUT Cape Town or Durban Service Points.

Programme and subject information are available in the part 9 of the TUT Prospectus and any further enquiries regarding subject or programme content should be directed to the Department of Safety and Security. Please refer to http://www.tut.ac.za for further details.

Instruction

Applicants who cannot attend the compulsory contact classes in block format at the Cape Town or Durban Service Points should not apply for admission to a distance education programme.

C.Distance Education: Application for Admission Form

Important Information

The form can be obtained from www.tut.ac.za or at the Distance Education Unit.

The contact details of the various TUT environments appear on page 2 of the Application for Admission Form.

No forms will be considered after the published closing date.

Instructions

1.Print Application for Admission Form from the TUT Distance Education website as mentioned in point C above.

2.Ensure that you are in possession of a Distance Education Application for Admission Form.

3.Pay the prescribed application fee at ABSA bank using the published TUT account number 040000003 and use your identity number as reference. Attach the deposit slip as proof of payment to the Application for Admission Form.

4.Attach original certified copies of all documents as required by TUT Rules and Regulations, including the deposit slip as proof of payment of the administration fee

5.COURIER your Application for Admission Form to the TUT Distance Education Unit before 30 November 2017, which is the closing date.

6.Applicants are responsible to either send the Applications for Admission forms by courier company or by personal delivery to the Pretoria offices of the Distance Education Unit, or hand in their Applications for Admission at Durban at the following addresses
