Qualification: Higher Diploma in Higher Education and Training (HDHT05) NQF Level: 7 Campus: Soshanguve North Campus

Remarks:

  • This qualification is managed by the Department of Educational Foundation.
  • It’s currently not being offered until further notice.

Admission Requirements:

  • A discipline-related qualification at NQF Level 6.
  • Suitable work experience in the higher education field.
  • Proven proficiency in the language of instruction.

Selection Criteria:

  • Selection is based on a personal interview with authorized academic(s) delegated by the Head of the School.

Minimum Duration: One year.

Presentation:

  • Evening classes.
  • The qualification may also be presented on a block basis over a period of two years, with contact sessions over weekends and during school holidays.

Intake for the Qualification: January only.

Exclusion and Readmission: Governed by Chapter 2 of Students’ Rules and Regulations.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Equivalence, and Status: Governed by Chapter 30 of Students’ Rules and Regulations.

Subject Credits: Subject credits are provided for each subject, and the total credits for the qualification are 1,000.

Here are the subjects offered in the qualification:

Analyse and Manage HET Learning (AHL501T): This subject covers an analysis of higher education, including its vision and mission statement, context, policies, procedures, and legislative acts. It also focuses on management, leadership, and administration related to learning and the facilitation of learning programs in higher education, training, and development.

Conduct Research in HET Practice (CRI501T): This subject involves research in higher education sectors in theory and practice. It covers ontological, epistemological, methodological perspectives, and instrumentation related to research.

Design, Develop, Implement HET Assessment (DDI501T): This subject is about designing, developing, and implementing the assessment of learning in higher education and in training and development.

Interpret/Design HET Learning Programs/Modules (IHE501T): It focuses on interpreting and designing learning programs and modules for higher education, training, and development.

Mediate and Facilitate Learning in HET (MFL501T): This subject involves mediation regarding learning content and facilitation of learning content in higher education, training, and development.

Mentor and Advise Learners in HET (MAL501T): This subject covers mentoring of learners and advising on learning in higher education, training, and development.
