Important Information for New Applicants

Before we dive into the details of this exciting qualification, there’s an important notification for new applicants. If you’re planning to enroll in this program in 2017 or later, please note that the Baccalaureus Technologiae (BTech) program will no longer be available from 2020. Instead, new qualifications aligned with the Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework will replace it. Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria

For applicants who obtained a Senior Certificate before 2008, here are the admission requirements:

  • A Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least an E symbol at Higher Grade or a D symbol at Standard Grade for English and Mathematics.
  • Recommended subjects include agricultural subjects, and preference will be given to applicants with Biology and/or Physical Science.

Selection for this group of applicants is based on academic merit, calculated using a formula. The formula assigns values to different symbols, and applicants with a score of 23 or higher will be considered for admission.

For applicants who obtained a National Senior Certificate in or after 2008, the requirements are as follows:

  • A National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or diploma endorsement, or an equivalent qualification.
  • An achievement level of at least 4 for English (home language or first additional language) and 3 for Mathematics or 4 for Mathematical Literacy.

Applicants in this category must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 19 (with Mathematics) or 20 (with Mathematical Literacy) to be considered for this qualification.

Duration, Presentation, and Intake

The National Diploma in Agriculture: Animal Production is a three-year program presented through day classes. The intake for this qualification is in January only, so be sure to plan accordingly.
