New Horizons Await

Before we delve into the exciting world of ecotourism, here’s an important update for new applicants: Starting from 2020, the Baccalaureus Technologiae program will no longer be available. Instead, it’s being replaced by qualifications aligned with the new Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework. For the latest qualifications, please check the university’s website.

The National Diploma in Ecotourism Management is a collaborative effort between the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Management Sciences. To ensure the best fit for this program, admission requirements and selection criteria vary depending on your educational background.

For Applicants with a Senior Certificate Before 2008:

  • Admission requirement: A Senior Certificate or equivalent with at least a D symbol at Higher Grade for Biology and English.
  • Recommended subjects: Hospitality Management, Hotel, and Tourism.
  • Selection criteria: Prospective students are admitted based on a points system. The more points, the better your chances!

For Applicants with a National Senior Certificate in or After 2008:

  • Admission requirement: A National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or diploma endorsement, with specific achievement levels in English and Mathematics.
  • Recommended subjects: Business Economics, Geography, and Travel and Tourism.
  • Selection criteria: An Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 20 is required, with different tiers of acceptance based on your APS.

For Applicants with a National Certificate (Vocational):

  • Admission requirement: A National Certificate (Vocational) in specific fields with minimum achievement levels in various subjects.
  • Recommended fields: Management, marketing, hospitality, tourism, and more.
  • Selection criteria: An APS of at least 27 is required for consideration.

The National Diploma in Ecotourism Management spans three years of immersive learning. You’ll attend day classes on the Pretoria Campus, starting in January each year.
