Important Notification for New Applicants: Starting in 2020, students enrolling for this qualification should note that pursuing any Baccalaureus Technologiae (BTech) degree may not be possible. This is due to the implementation of new qualifications aligned with the Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework. Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria:
For Applicants with Senior Certificates (Pre-2008):
- You should have a Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- You need a D symbol (50 – 59%) at Higher Grade or a C symbol (60 – 69%) at Standard Grade for English.
- You must have C symbols (60 – 69%) at Higher Grade or B symbols (70 – 79%) at Standard Grade for Mathematics and Physical Science.
- Applicants with specific subject grades may be considered for admission to the extended program.
Selection Criteria:
- To be considered for the National Diploma, you need an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 28.
- Applicants with a score of 20 to 27 will be considered for the extended program.
For Applicants with National Senior Certificates (Post-2008):
- You should have a National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or a diploma endorsement or an equivalent qualification.
- You need an achievement level of at least 4 for English, 5 for Mathematics, and 5 for Physical Sciences.
- Applicants with specific subject grades may be considered for admission to the extended program.
Assessment Procedure:
- All applications will be ranked based on the APS achieved.
- The highest-ranked applicants will be accepted based on the Departmental Student Enrolment Plan (SEP).
- A waiting list will provide an opportunity for other applicants to fill places created by accepted students who fail to meet enrolment dates.
If you didn’t meet the criteria for Mathematics and/or Physical Sciences, you can consider enrolling for Mathematics N3/N4, Engineering Sciences N3/N4, or related subjects through the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College.
