Important Updates for New Applicants

Starting from 2020, the existing Baccalaureus Technologiae (BTech) qualifications are being replaced by new qualifications aligned with the Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework. Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria

Admission into the National Diploma in Film and Television Production program depends on your educational background. Here are the requirements for various applicant groups:

For Applicants with a Senior Certificate Obtained Before 2008:

  • Admission Requirement(s): A Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification with at least four subjects at the Higher Grade.
  • Recommended Subject(s): Art, Computer Studies, Drama, Mathematics, Music, and Science.
  • Selection Criteria: Applicants will undergo a selection process based on a TUT potential assessment, and a personal interview if necessary. The Selection Committee’s decision is final.

For Applicants with a National Senior Certificate Obtained in or After 2008:

  • Admission Requirement(s): A National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or a diploma endorsement, or an equivalent qualification, with an achievement level of at least 3 for English (home language or first additional language).
  • Recommended Subject(s): None.
  • Selection Criteria: Applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 18. The APS will contribute 50% to the final admission score, and the interview will contribute the remaining 50%.

For Applicants with a National Certificate (Vocational):

  • Admission Requirement(s): A National Certificate (Vocational) with specific subject achievements.
  • Selection Criteria: Applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 27.

These admission requirements ensure that students entering the program have a strong foundation to excel in film and television production.

Program Duration, Presentation, and Intake

The National Diploma in Film and Television Production program spans three years and is presented through day classes. New students are accepted for intake in January only, ensuring a focused and cohesive learning experience.
