Important Notification for New Applicants
For prospective students planning to start their Interior Design journey in 2017 or later, there’s an essential update you should be aware of. Starting from 2020, the National Diploma in Interior Design is undergoing a transformation, aligning with the newly-implemented Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework. This means that after 2020, you won’t be able to continue with any Baccalaureus Technologiae programs. To stay updated on the latest qualifications and changes, be sure to regularly check the university’s website for information that may not be included in this prospectus.
Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria
The admission requirements for the National Diploma in Interior Design vary based on your academic background:
For Applicants Who Obtained a Senior Certificate Before 2008:
- Admission Requirement(s): A Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
- Recommended Subject(s): Art and Design, Computer Studies, Mathematics, and Technical Drawing.
- Selection Criteria: Submission of a portfolio of practical work. Further detailed instructions will be provided.
For Applicants Who Obtained a National Senior Certificate in or After 2008:
- Admission Requirement(s): A National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or a diploma endorsement, or an equivalent qualification, with an achievement level of at least 3 for English (home language or first additional language).
- Recommended Subject(s): None.
- Selection Criteria: To be considered, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 18. Applicants with an APS of 18 and more will be invited to submit a portfolio for evaluation.
For Applicants With a National Certificate (Vocational):
- Admission Requirement(s): A National Certificate (Vocational) with at least 50% for English (home language or first additional language) and 50% for Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, 50% for Life Orientation (excluded for APS calculation), 60% for any other three compulsory vocational subjects, and 50% for the fourth subject.
- Selection Criteria: To be considered, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 27.
