If you’re planning to enroll in this qualification from 2017 onwards, please note that the landscape is evolving. As of 2020, Baccalaureus Technologiae programs will be replaced by qualifications aligned with the newly-implemented Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework. Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria

Let’s talk about the prerequisites for embarking on this educational journey:

For Applicants with Senior Certificates Before 2008:

  • You’ll need a Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • Specifically, you should have an E symbol at Higher Grade or a D symbol at Standard Grade for English, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Biology.

Selection Criteria:

  • Your assessment will be based on the normal M score with a weighted Swedish scale.

For Applicants with National Senior Certificates in or after 2008:

  • You should have a National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or a diploma endorsement, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Achieve an achievement level of at least 4 for English (home language or first additional language) and 3 for Mathematics or 4 for Mathematical Literacy and 3 for Life Sciences or 3 for Physical Sciences.

Recommended Subjects:

  • If you want to boost your chances, consider taking subjects like Agricultural Sciences, Art, Geography, and Technical Drawing.

Selection Criteria:

  • To be considered for this qualification, you must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 19 (with Mathematics) or 20 (with Mathematical Literacy).

Minimum Duration: Three years of exciting learning and hands-on experience await you.

Presentation: Day classes to accommodate your learning schedule.

Intake: Admissions are open in January only, so plan ahead.

Exclusion and Readmission: For more details, consult Chapter 2 of Students’ Rules and Regulations.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Equivalence, and Status: Explore Chapter 30 of Students’ Rules and Regulations to learn how your prior learning experiences can be recognized.

Work-Integrated Learning: This program offers a structured Work-Integrated Learning experience at Booysens Nursery Training Centre, in Industry, or at the University itself. Your placement in the industry is subject to departmental evaluation and approval. For a deeper understanding, refer to Chapter 5 of Students’ Rules and Regulations.

Subject Credits: You’ll find subject credits listed in brackets after each subject, ensuring transparency in your academic journey.
