Important Notification for New Applicants
First things first, if you’re considering enrolling in this program for the first time in 2017 or later, take note that the Baccalaureus Technologiae option will no longer be available from 2020. Instead, the university is introducing qualifications that align with the newly-implemented Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework. Keep an eye on the university’s website for updates on these new qualifications.
Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria
Your journey to obtaining this diploma begins with meeting the admission requirements:
- For Applicants with a Senior Certificate Before 2008:
- A Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification with a D symbol at Higher Grade for English.
- Recommended subjects include Accounting, Business Economics, Economics, Geography, History, Tourism, Typing, and a third language.
- Selection is based on an academic merit formula that considers your performance in school subjects.
- For Applicants with a National Senior Certificate in or After 2008:
- You’ll need a National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or diploma endorsement, or an equivalent qualification.
- Achieve at least a level 4 for English (home language or first additional language) and level 3 for Mathematics or level 4 for Mathematical Literacy.
- Recommended subjects include Business Economics, Geography, and Travel and Tourism.
- For Applicants with a National Certificate (Vocational):
- If you hold a National Certificate (Vocational), you’ll need at least 50% for English (home language or first additional language) and 50% for Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
- Additionally, score 50% for Life Orientation (which is excluded from the APS calculation), 60% for any three compulsory vocational subjects, and 50% for the fourth subject.
- Your certificate should be in one of the specified fields like management, marketing, hospitality, tourism, and more.
Meeting these requirements opens the door to the program, and your Admission Point Score (APS) plays a crucial role. Applicants with an APS of 24 and above are directly admitted, while those with scores between 20 and 23 may be invited for a TUT potential assessment.
